Violin / Viola Lessons

Keren Ocasio has been teaching violin to children and adults for over 11 years.  She began playing when she was 6 years old.  Her love of music continued into college, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Violin Performance and a Master’s Degree in Music Education from the Conservatory of Music in Puerto Rico.  She also holds a certificate as a Suzuki violin teacher and has participated in Professional Development conferences and workshops, including workshops with well known violin teacher Mimi Zweig, the American String Teacher Association, and Creative Ability Development among others.  Keren also plays electric violin and enjoys performing and teaching a variety of genres of music.  She is also fluent in Spanish.

Keren’s Master’s Thesis was on the Creative Ability Method, which she incorporates into her individual and group classes along with the Suzuki method.  Karen’s approach to teaching emphasizes a focus on individual needs and unique learning styles of each student.

Keren looks forward to sharing her love and passion for music and her extensive training and knowledge with students in our community.
