Tara Rozanski

Piccolo - Flute

I am a professional flutist and piccoloist in the New Jersey and Philadelphia region. I maintain an active career as a soloist, chamber musician, teacher, and orchestral musician. I am known for my expertise in piccolo playing, along with my expressive and creative takes on otherwise traditional music. I have a passion for the progression of piccolo as a solo and ensemble instrument. I also have diverse knowledge and experience performing in multiple musical genres on both flute and piccolo.

My passion for collaborative work with living composers and the progression of the piccolo as a solo instrument have afforded me the opportunity to continue my passion of collaborative work with three commissions in store for the year, including compositions by Herman Beeftink, Zac Fick-Cambria, and Kimberly Osberg. I also premiered "Sky Suite" for piccolo and piano by Andrew Kosinski, staff arranger of Pershing's Own.

I can be seen performing with various professional orchestras and chamber ensembles like the Bay Atlantic Symphony, Bel Canto Lyric Opera of Philadelphia, and alongside members of the Philadelphia Orchestra. I have performed at many notable venues including Carnegie Hall and the Mann Center. I often am seen playing as a soloist, most recently as a featured piccolo soloist in the Northeast region of the country.

My pedagogical approach has led to my students going on to study music in college, often being the recipients of scholarships. My students have successfully auditioned at notable universities like Berklee College of Music, University of Delaware, Ithaca College, Rowan University, Lebanon Valley College, and more. I believe in a strong foundation of the student- teacher relationship and I incorporate that knowledge and an empathetic approach to students' busy schedules, interests, and different personalities. I believe my job as a teacher is to provide a safe space for students to explore their instrument, creative expression, and find their own musical voice.

I am a graduate of the Peabody Institute (GPD piccolo, 2023), University of Delaware (Master's in flute), and Montclair State University (Bachelor's in flute).
